The former Atletico Madrid forward will return to his club in less than perfect shape after suffering a blow on international duty

Inter striker Diego Forlan is waiting to discover the extent of his injury after coming off with a muscular problem in Uruguay's 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw with Paraguay on Tuesday.

The former Atletico Madrid forward scored for his team but was forced to come off after feeling a sharp pain to his leg as celebrations were cut short.

Forlan is now expected to have further tests with his club side and they will try to diagnose the extent of the problem amid reports claiming he could be out for a month.

"I felt strong pain in my leg and I had to stop playing. Now we have to see what the doctors say," Forlan is quoted as saying on Il Corriere dello Sport.
"I do not know what the problem is yet, but I just couldn't continue playing.

"We have to wait. Once I go back to Milan I will have further tests."

Inter play Catania on Saturday evening and Forlan is likely to miss the game with early reports suggesting he could be out for approximately two weeks.

However, there is some good news for Claudio Ranieri's side as Giampaolo Pazzini is expected to play in Sicily after he returned to training on Wednesday and midfielder Wesley Sneijder is also closing in on a comeback from a groin problem.

The Netherlands international revealed he will rejoin his team-mates in practice via Twitter: "I have good news!!! Tomorrow I will start to train with the team... I'm happy!!!!!!!!"
